This is a long time coming for most of us, with all that we’ve gone through in these years of being locked down. It’s time to take the bullet and bite it…to find our true authenticity and own it.
My name is Linda Lugo. I am an artist, and I live on an island in the Caribbean. I was drifting in a sea of confusion like most wondering what to do with this time of lockdown.
On December 20, 2020, I had a calling to start painting again after a long hiatus. It took me to places I now look back on as therapy.
I looked deep inside to discover the many facets of myself, and I found I was painting as if I were an archaeologist building a piece, only to break it down to find its core. I was painting remembrances from a past, not only in this lifetime but others.
I found answers to questions I’ve had all my life about who I really am. That is what I am discovering as I paint each art piece. The art ranges from what I call frequency art, resonating many frequencies of light.
I create art pieces from my past here on earth and past lives; archetypes from all over the world and universe. I now know if I had any doubts about my past lives, through my artwork, it proves to me I did!
There’s a stillness in knowing the truth. These years have been difficult for most of us, but the creative aspects of art have catapulted me. I realized the importance of creativity and the peace it brings in uncovering who you really are.
I pray you find something in my art to stimulate you into the discovery of your own true authenticity.
I remember when I was young, someone asked me what would I like to do towards the later part of my life.
I thought about it for a moment, knowing how creative I was and how I loved going from one art form to another, not even knowing then how much more I was going to do—like going to an art and fashion school, which put me into an assistant designer position.
I also had an unforeseeable detour to being a short-order cook and a taxi cab driver in NYC when a few women were driving cabs. As luck has it, I read a want ad that started me on my way to a career.
I started spraying perfume on Fifth Avenue in all the major department stores. Then I climbed the ladder to being a makeup artist for all major brands like Chanel at Bergdorf Goodman, where I met makeup artists working in TV and film.
I pursued getting into IASTE and was a professional makeup artist for 32 years. I also worked for Disney on Ice and Ringling Brothers Circus. I traveled with these different employers through the years to places I couldn’t even dream of going to because regular people like us wouldn’t be allowed in.
I have seen and experienced many unusual and unexplainable things and occurrences. It is reflected in my artwork and the words I write. So, with that being said, my answer to the question, “What would you like to do towards the later part of your life?” is:
I pray that when I get to the point of knowing that, I can take everything I’ve learned and put it into something to express it all. So, here I am in these later years of my life expressing so much more than I expected through my life experiences and my art form.
With art love,
Linda Lugo
